Community Programs

Our community programs make sure that everyone has access to free computer training.    Whether teens, seniors or adults, we have programs that support learning for all.

Seniors First

CETAT provides virtual  individual computer literacy training to seniors. Instruction include, how to use your cell phone / tablet, setting up and using email and communicating with family and friends with social media. Many seniors also use this time to get assistance with resume development and job searching.

To participate,  seniors sign-up for individual 30 minutes appointments where they receive 1 on 1 training with CETAT instructors.  They are encouraged to bring their own devices or use the computers at the library.  Some instruction is provided by Prince George’s County High School and Prince George’s Community College students.

Create Initiative

The Create Initiative is a summer program that introduces youth to digital media related to web design, coding, digital photography, videography and music.  In 2020, The Create Initiative delivered its first virtual summer program.  Students were able to connect and receive instruction via Zoom.

Students develop websites using HTML and WordPress.  They will create programs using Python.  They will also create and edit images, videos and music using various applications.  In addition to technology training, a focus of this program is to also provide professional development training and coaching to youth.
